Why monitor for 24 hours?
You will be fitted with a blood pressure monitor, using a cuff on your arm connected to a portable device which is carried in a small bag. The machine will take readings at intervals throughout the day and night, as you go about your normal routine, to give a true indication of your blood pressure. The nighttime readings are especially important, as they can help identify nocturnal hypertension and guide treatment decisions.
On completion of the 24 hours, your results will automatically be sent to your GP, who will review them and invite you in for further testing where necessary.
A copy of the readings can be emailed to you if you'd like them.
